Barranquilla, city in the northwest of Colombia, capital of the department of Atlantic. Is one of the most important industrial and port centers in the country.

HISTORICAL INTEREST
•Barranquilla was Colombia's first port and is proud of its level of industrialization and modernity, which earned it the name of Colombia's Golden Gate. The first airport in South America was also built in Barranquilla.
•The Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport, the first airport built in South America (1919),
•First marine and fluvial port of the country.
•The first company of public services (telephony).
•The jetty of Port Colombia was the longest in the world in its time.
•The first tourist hotel in Latin America (Hotel del prado).
•Barranquilla is the major industrial city on the caribbean coast of Colombia. It´s known as the “Golden gate “ of Colombia

WHAT'S BARRANQUILLA LIKE?
•In the 1940s, Barranquilla was the second largest city in Colombia and one of the most modern cities on the Caribbean.
The city is also known as "La Arenosa" (The Sandy One), alluding to the fine sand occasionally present in the air, due to its proximity to the Caribbean beaches. Barranquilla is a modern, industrial city, with more than 1,700,000 habitants.
•I´m speaking of barranquilla because it´s my native city.
•This is a beautiful, exciting and interesting city.It´s people is friendly and fresh.
•It´s very big city. There are a lot of people, cars,buildings,and landscapes, enough vegetation and happyness.
•If You can to visit Colombia, you shouln´t miss know to Santa Marta and Cartagena.these cities has a lot of amazing beaches and turist places

BARRANQUILLA'S CARNIVAL!!!

The Barranquilla´s carnival is recognized as one of the best of the world. Every year, four days before the Lent, the different cultural traditions of the city meet in the Carnival of Barranquilla.
Today in day, this variety of indigenous, African traditions and Europeans appear in numerous aspects of the carnival, in particular the dance. the musical goods (mainly the cumbia, but also other variants as “la pulla and el porro”), and the musical instruments (tambora y alegre, maracas,…). The music of the carnival is usually interpreted by group of drums or by instruments of wind.

So, this city has many wonderful things to do. You should to visit this Amazing country. Colombia wait for you!!!
